There was a voting system that happened, wherein 164 members from different nations are permitted to cast their vote. The Emirate of Dubai has won the favor of many people, garnering 116 votes, with only 47 for Yekaterinburg, Russia. The President of the UAE, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has sent his congratulations when the news broke out about Dubai winning the bid.
The whole United Arab Emirates (UAE) has celebrated this win by letting fireworks go off from the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, and declaring the following day a holiday for all educational institutions in the country. It is indeed appreciated by the government that Dubai will be the first host of the World Expo in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Where Will They Hold the Event?
The Expo 2020 will be held at a location near the Al Maktoum International Airport, which will have four main entrances. The Dubai Metro Route 2020 that was reportedly 50% complete last March of this year will be expected to carry more than 40,000 passengers per hour. This is from and to the site of the Expo 2020.
